Wanna See My List?

No matter whom I talk to, when I tell them about the girls starting school soon, everyone wants to know what I'll DO with myself once I have all of this free time. And in all cases my response has been, "I have a list". What I don't think people realize is that my schedule is going to have to shift. Right now, I typically stay up every night until 1 or 2 in the morning doing everything from household chores to working on my own projects - scrapbooking and whatnot. Once the girls are in school, I'll have to be up very early in the morning in order to get them on the bus - so the late nights will have to stop. I'll also have to start dinner while the girls are in school, because once they come home they'll be like wild animals and I won't be able to get anything done. So, its not like I'm going to have this abundance of free time; its all just shifting around.

We had our last team meeting with the therapists; we have meetings every month to discuss the girls' progress and goals, but with this being our final month in Early Intervention, we really just sat around this time and ate cake and ice cream. It was cool. They'll be with us till the end of the month, but everyone is taking vacation around this time. This is the crazy time - I can't hardly keep our schedule straight on a "normal" day, change things up and I'm lost. Mommy Brain never really went away - and I suspect it will continue on this way until the girls leave home. Maybe not even then. Jeez.

We took the girls to Chuckee Cheez' this afternoon - their cousins are visiting. God help me, I hate that place. Its a germbed. And I really despise the kids who've mastered the art of freeloadiong. They watch you put your kid on, say, the carousel that seats three, and jump on once you put your token in, thus getting themselves a free ride. Its infuriating. I took Dr. D. into the bathroom to change her diaper, and found a woman in a stall, with her baby (probably about one year old) OUTSIDE the stall, crawling around on the bathroom floor. I swear I nearly puked.

After Chuckee's, we took all the girls to the diner for a bite. They had a character night, someone dressed up as Buzz Lightyear. Dr. D was positively freaked out by this enormous costumed character. She kept burying her little head in my shoulder whenever "Buzz" came around. Dr. D. is a pretty gutsy chick, so when she's scared, you know its for real.

Off to a BBQ tomorrow, hope everyone has a great weekend!

You sound just about like me...staying up way too late to get whatever free time I can get :) My kids started school this week, but I am still staying up too late...and I'm paying for it...I'm exhausted!!
I agree with you about Chuck E's...nasty!! And parents don't make any effort at all to control their kids' behavior there, either...it's a madhouse (at least ours is)! One of those necessary evils, though, I suppose!!
Michele sent me tonight! I hope you're having a great weekend!! :)

If you're like me, you'll spend the time that the girls are at school actually getting things done. Relish that time alone - I'm sure that you've more than earned it!

Michele sent me here this evening. Hope you had a great weekend!

You adjust to not having the kids under foot all the time. Then they a) come home & b) summer rolls around all too soon & it never really stops!
Enjoy what you can while you can!
