The Summer of Skinned Knees
July isn't even over yet, and I've already cornered the market on Dora Band-aids and Neosporin. I've had an easier time with Miss Princess, as she seems to understand that when she gets a "boo-boo", mommy puts medicine on it, and she gets a cool Dora Band aid to wear. Dr. D. has no patience for any of that crap, and tries to rip the band-aid off as soon as I get it on.
We are going to start working on potty training this week; quite frankly, I'm scared to death about this. I've no idea even where to start. We bought the cutest little Dora potty seat, and those diaper/underwear thingies. Cross your fingers on that one. I'd just as soon wait for the girls to start school.
It was in the news that the president got a colonoscopy this weekend. I'm not quite sure why this was news, but it made me giggle. I really would have liked to see those docs skip the anesthesia, and then the prez would know what it feels like to be lower-middle-class in this country....OK stepping down off my political soapbox for the night.
There's a big hole in the middle of Lexingon Avenue - in case you hadn't heard, click
here - DH's already crazy commute just got even crazier until this gets cleaned up. Oh, and ConEd is expecting a LOT of lawsuits and requests for lost-business-reimbursement...like my ConEd bill isn't high enough.
This week we had the girls' annual evaluation with Early Intervention. Technically, we only have six weeks left with EI, but I had to sit through the meeting in order to keep our services the same until the end of summer -- stupid, but necessary. I was sitting with the Service Coordinator, and we were discussing the girls' progress and goals, when she asked me, "Are you in the field?"...I'm thinking - softball field? soccer field? I must have looked confused because she clarified, "Are you a teacher? A therapist?" I laughed, and said no. She said, "you could be." I guess that's what happens when you're the one responsible for your child's development 24/7. In fact, many folks whose kids are on the spectrum go back to school and become therapists, or so I'm told. That's not for me - I'm lucky I have enough patience for my own kids, I don't think I could deal with going to strange houses and dealing with other people's kids. Much respect to those who do.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend - and if you've got any potty training tips, do be sure to pass 'em on.

Here from Michele tonight...
I am unfamiliar with Early Intervention....And I jujst saw the word "spectrum" used for the first time in another blog...BUT, I am unfamiliar with that term, too...I guess it is the context I am unfamiliar with...Anyway, I enjoyed reading this..I just wish I understood more what you were talking about...Sorry to be so ill informed.

Hi! Thanks for your visit. Tips on Potty Training? I toilet trained my 2 year 10 month old in one day - though she still wears 'pull-ups' when we go out. If you look at my blog you will see how I did it. All I will say is good luck and no pressure!
