Diary of a Mad SAHM

Don't ask me - I just vent here.

Well, lookit me.

I've lost FIVE pounds.
Five down, 95 more to go. ha ha.
I went to a yoga class this week. I didn't find it very relaxing, but I was proud of myself that I hung in there for an hour. I was too busy trying to make sure I had all the positions right to relax. I'll likely go back next week and give it another shot.

Still going to the gym three times a week; there's a definite cycle to my workouts. I get there, jump on the cardio machine of the day - and the first 15 minutes or so is just me watching the clock, thinking to myself, "this sucks this sucks this sucks when will it be time to get off?" Then I start to get into the rhythm, and I kick ass for the next 15 minutes. Thank God for my MP3 player, or I'd never get through it.

Food wars continue: when it comes to Princess, I keep getting full sentences - all fresh. Things like, "I'm not eating anymore", "I'm not taking a bath ever again"...you get the idea. She's started trying new foods in school (thanks to "instructional eating" in the classroom). But she tries the new foods in school and not for me. So this week, I threw down the gauntlet. I bought her mini-cupcakes - a new fave - and she couldn't get one until she ate a piece of chicken cutlet. She screamed, she cried...I refused to relent (I think that was part of the problem; she knew that she could play me and if she screamed enough, I'd give up and just let her have what she wanted). She ate the chicken, she got the cupcake, and I got to bask in the golden glow of triumph...for about five minutes.

I'm currently at war with the school bus driver too. Here's a little background: My girls get picked up by the school bus at 7am. I get them up at 6:15. That's pretty early for 3-year olds to be getting up out of bed. Recently, the bus driver informed me that I have to have the girls ready when he gets there. My reply was - we are ready - when I see the bus pull up, I get the girls coats on and out the door we go - it takes all of two minutes (and that's no small feat). A couple of weeks ago, he pulled up at 6:50 and left at 6:57. Without us. I was furious - if we're supposed to get picked up at 7:00, he shouldn't expect us out there until 7:00. I didn't make too much of a fuss, however - my kids are under this guy's charge for two hours a day. For the last week or so, he's been showing up at 6:55 in order to get us out of the house earlier. Of course, today I actually got the girls up without a fuss, and we were ahead of schedule...and he shows up at 7:15. I refuse to have my girls sitting in the house with their coats on (sweating).

I know, I know...if I don't like it, I can always drive the girls myself. The problem is, there are some days when its hard just to get the girls on the bus; I can only imagine the scene if I drove the girls to school, and Princess decides that she wants to stay with me instead...YIKES.

I'm off to sleep - we're expecting BIG rains tomorrow, and my basement is most certainly going to flood...gotta get my wading boots out! Have a good weekend!

I think I'd have a whole lot to say if a bus driver tried to bully me into getting my kids ready early, and left before the appointed time. That's just not right.

Michele sent me to feel indignant on your behalf.
