Don't ask me - I just vent here.

This week's Oscar goes to...

Miss Princess.

More on that in a moment.

This entire week has been consumed with Dr. D home sick. It started on Monday with a fever; the doctor did a throat culture but her ears and lungs were clear. He gave us an antibiotic which caused the usual fun and games...D's sensory issues made her throw up her medicine. Repeatedly. Which scared the crap out of her and convinced her that she'd puke every time she took medicine, and every time she ate - so I was really fighting to keep her hydrated in the face of her temperature.

Mid-week she woke up with a temperature of 104.7. I FREAKED OUT. It was hell keeping the Motrin in her in order to get her temperature down.

Once I saw the temp go that high, I was pretty sure it was roseola, but I couldn't be sure.
Thursday morning, she was laying in bed with me, watching "Tigger and Pooh" when she looked at me and said, "I'm OK now mommy". I said, "really? I'm so relieved."

Dr. D is a high-energy kid - she's always moving; so to see her laying on the couch fatigued was pretthy disconcerting. It was hard for me to get anything done - whenever one of my kids is sick, I'm totally stressed out and hovering. If the girls were better at communicating, maybe I wouldn't stress as much.

To add to all the fun, on Tuesday morning Miss Princess refused to go to school. She woke up in the morning, got dressed, then threw herself on the floor and said, "I stay home with Mommy". I didn't see the point in forcing her to go to school only to have the school call me a couple of hours later to pick her up. Tuesday was tough.

On Thursday, Princess went to school - she was in a good mood, chatting about seeing her friends and all that good stuff. At 10:30 in the morning, the school called. They said that Princess was crying, not eating and putting her head down - and could I pick her up. I dropped Dr. D. off with my mom and headed to the school. I'm waiting in the lobby of the school when I hear a little voice say, "Mommy's here! Where's my jacket? Mommy's here!". I take her to the car, and she begins chattering away about going for a ride in my car. She asked me where Dr. D. was, and I told her that we were going to Grandma's to pick her up - she replied, "We're going to Grandma's? YAY!"

By now, I'm thinking I've been hoodwinked.

As we passed a McDonald's, she asked for french fries. That pretty much sealed the deal. Yes dear readers, I was fooled. Sure, I remember playing hooky, playing sick at school in order to get mom to pick me up...
...just not at THREE YEARS OLD.

I've been punked. Have a great week.

I remember the fear of having kids temps get up over 104 and worrying yourself sick... checking on them every few minutes. It's amazing how quickly McDonalds can make all things right! Kids, gotta love 'em. Here from Michele's
