R.I.P. Dora and Diego

I should have known this day would come. I should have been more ready.
Last weekend, I went into the bathroom and found a selection of bath toys in the toilet. Dr. D. had found her way upstairs and sent the toys for a swim. I'm sure it made sense to her - the toys are meant for water, and there's water in this big bowl...a no brainer! I reached in, pulled out all the toys I could see, and then stuck my hand as far into the bowl as I could (I know...if YOU'RE grossed out right now, you shoulda been me then). I flushed, and the toilet clogged. Thank goodness my dad came to the rescue and helped me snake the toilet and get things moving again. The next night, Dr D. climbed into the tub, looked around and said, "Where's Dora and Diego?"...I laughed and said, "Dora's swimming in the East River with the big brown sharks, thanks to YOU."

Dr. D. is well again...last night I started taking antibiotics again because I started feeling sick - my ears are popping and I just KNOW my body. Princess has the sniffles again, and I'm working like hell to keep it from getting worse. All I want is for them to be well enough to get their damn flu shots - is that too much to ask?

We had a change in their bus schedule this week. Apparently, they added some kids to the run, and another kid moved, which made it necessary to pick my kids up first. They moved our pick up time from 7:40am to 7:00am. In order to have them ready by 7am, they have to be up every morning by 6:15am. Its a lot to ask of two three-year-olds. Fortunately, with the switch last week to Eastern Standard time, the girls have been getting up earlier in the morning, so the change hasn't really affected them so much. I'm pretty pissed off about it; the girls leave the house at 7am, and they're home by 4pm. Its a LONG day.

DH and I attended parent-teacher conferences this week. We got good reports all the way around - what a relief! My biggest concern was the girls' speech therapy - they're supposed to get five - 30min. sessions a week. I got letters about both girls being "underserved" - that they were receiving only three sessions a week - and that I was approved to seek out a speech therapist who would fulfill the remaining sessions. My big question was - how? With what time? When my kids get home at 4pm, and have to be in bed by 7:30 in order to be awake and ready for the 7am bus pickup?? I was happy to hear that each girl got picked up for a fourth session in school - its not perfect, but I'll take it.

OK y'all, my nearly-sick ass is heading off to bed. Have a great weekend!

I understand more than you can know... Today one of my 20 month old twins took off him jammies tonight and decided to wash them in the toliet - it was one of the least grossness I've ever had to endure.

Hope you feel better soon - it's always worse when Mom's down. :)

Kids and toilets always make for interesting stories. I've got some interesting ones with my three. Anyway I wanted to thank you for stopping by my blog. You've got a nice place here!

Wouldn't it be nicer if all the problems could come evenly spaced out? Unfortunately for us mothers, they never do. Good luck!

    Hello from Michelle's!
