Mommy's Running Away!

Well, not really. But I've got to share this with you, my friends - I haven't told anyone else, and the whole thing is just so downright...naughty...that I have to tell SOMEONE!

Tomorrow I'd normally be driving to New Jersey to attend my monthly sales team meeting to do some scrapping. The meeting got cancelled. But I've already lined up my mom to watch the girls. So I'm dropping the girls off at 9am, and I'll disappear until about 1pm. And luxuriate in the fact that I have FOUR GLORIOUS HOURS to myself! I'm going to have a quiet breakfast at a sit-down restaurant...enjoy a cup of coffee, read the paper...do some shopping....that's about all I've managed to come up with.

You know, its nuts - I have four hours to do whatever I want...and I'm not really sure what to do with it.

Am I a terrible person for doing this? Probably. But its been a tough week.

When I last left you, the girls were getting sick. By Sunday I was sick. By Tuesday I was back at the doctor with the girls because the antibiotics he'd prescribed weren't working, and they were developing nasty coughs. Dr. D. woke up Tuesday literally barking like a seal - I knew I had to nebulize her, but I needed to hear it from the Dr. I HATE nebulizing them, they hate it, its a fight to get it done, and the steroids make them completely psycho. Which, on a normal day, is hard enough...but when I'm sick as well, its a recipe for disaster. I was so weak, I felt like I was walking through water my limbs were so heavy. The girls' Special Ed teachers called me up and said, "Listen, we know they're sick, but we could come over anyway and just let them work on stuff they like doing, and maybe you could lay down for an hour or so..."

I don't need to tell you that I nearly cried tears of joy. Then I ran out and bought them gifts for Mother's Day.

In other news, Miss Princess S. has a new annoying habit. She tears pages out of her coloring books. This pisses me off to no end. She took a brand new honkin' Dora coloring book and tore the whole thing to pieces. I keep trying not to get annoyed by it; but the damn books are like $5 a piece, and when I tell her to stop, she gives me "that look" and proceeds to tear out two more pages. Then I put the coloring books in "time out" and a screaming match ensues. Dr. D. has discovered that crayons can be used on stuff other than coloring books. To date, she's written on the walls, the windows, the window screens, and the TV stand. Thank goodness for my Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.

Have a great weekend everyone - and Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there!

Nebuliser time was always story time in our house. It was difficult at first but in the end the attraction of the story beat the aversion to the nebuliser.
