Diary of a Mad SAHM

Don't ask me - I just vent here.

Well. I told you so.

Last weekend, my MIL came to babysit the girls because DH and I had a fancy-schmancy dinner to go to. I was giving my MIL her marching orders for the night, and when I got to the topic of dinner, she said, "Oh, don't worry; I have that under control". Needless to say, my curiousity was piqued. She ceremoniously pulled out of a bag some carrots and potatoes, and informed me that she was going to make "orange potatoes" for the babies (that's really just mashed potatoes and carrots). She went on to say that all of her grandchildren ate it and love it, and she wanted to try it with my girls, knowing the feeding issues we're having. I wished her luck and went upstairs to get ready. DH was in the background saying, "If Mama can't get them to eat, no one can!" uh-huh. Thanks for THAT vote of confidence!

While I was making myself pretty (which takes some doing these days, mind you) I heard the most ungodly noises coming from my kitchen. I come downstairs, and DH is sitting at his desk, looking ashen. I asked him what was going on, and he said "I think the girls won." I walked into the kitchen, and there were orange potaotes all over my kitchen: there were plates everywhere, and the babies were screaming. My MIL yelled, "Don't come in here! Everything is fine, I'm making them peanut butter and jelly, I'll make sure they eat". I said, "Oh, I'm not worried, I know they'll eat. See you later!" And strolled off to enjoy a few kamikazes before dinner.

Harrumph.

Miss Princess bit me on the shoulder the other night. She hasn't quite gotten the concept of a "kiss" down just yet. I was tickling her and she jumped up, hugged me, and bit me - it hurt so bad I nearly cried. DH laughed at my discomfort, and said "Mommy, S. loves you so much she just wants to eat you!" Yeah, let's see if its funny when she bites YOU.

Here's the Friday Five for the week (http://www.friday5.org/):

1. What do you like on a hot dog? - I don't usually eat hot dogs, but when I splurge at Grey's Papaya on 6th Ave, its usually mustard and onions.

2. What do you like on a hamburger? - Always ketchup, sometimes mayo, sometimes cole slaw
3. What do you like on a baked potato? - Sour cream!
4. What do you like on a slice of toast? - Butter and honey
5. What do you like in a cup of coffee or tea? - Milk and sugar in either one.

I sure hope your MIL cleaned up all the mashed potatoes and carrots!!

Thanks for the visit. The white roses in the photo were vendelas. At the time I wrote the post, I couldn't remember their name. Blue birds and curiosas are 2 of my favorite roses.

    Michele has sent me.

If it is any consolation, I would have thrown the orange potatoes all over the place too and I'm an adult haha. Hope the bite wasn't too deep :)

Grandparents always think they know best. I wish I knew why that was the case.

Glad you got out and had some fun!
