Cabin Fever!
First off, the Down concert was great. I had such a great time! I was worried about being the mid-30's Mom in the midst of way-too-cool young'ins. As DH and I were on line to enter Roseland Ballroom, we were behind a bunch of guys who looked like they just left the offices at Morgan Stanley down the street and came over to mosh. I instantly felt better. I was having a great time until some skanky biotch ruined my buzz.
Let me say this: there are two kinds of women who go to hard rock concerts: gals like me who wear the t-shirt and jeans, and gals who dress like...skanks - the corsets, the low-rider jeans...and one of these gals just got up in my grill and ...well. I'll spare you the gory details. I'm at a point in my life where I feel like I'm pushing 40, and I shouldn't really be beefing with strangers - but sometimes, you just have to make an exception.
...and if my daughters ever think they're leaving the house in a corset, I'm locking them in a closet until they're 30.
Speaking of my daughters, this was a rough week. Some of our therapists were on vacation due to the holidays and schools being out. I'd planned to capitalize on that and take the girls out on trips to the Children's Museum, the park, etc...but the weather didn't cooperate. It was windy, blustery, cloudy and cold. Thus, we were stuck in the house. Cabin fever quickly set in, and by Wednesday, the three of us were pretty fed up with each other. Miss Princess has worn a permanent spot in the Time Out chair, and Dr. D. almost broke her daddy's guitar. So tonight I treated myself to several well-deserved frozen chocolate martinis.
I'm actually looking forward to the holiday weekend. My mom decided to do a family get-together on Saturday; last year, we did the "let's-go-to-both-grandmother's-houses" on Easter Sunday and it was UGLY. By the time the girls got to my mom's house in the latter part of the day, they were tired, cranky, and cried the entire time. Granted, the girls are older, and we maty not have had the waterworks, but I'm happy that I don't have to deal with it nonetheless. Mom is making her lasagna, and I may even be able to sneak in a glass of wine too. Relatives have bought the girls lots of goodies for their Easter baskets (in lieu of candy, since the girls don't really eat chocolate; however Miss Princess has snuck some of my M&M's lately)...games, bubbles, stickers galore...oodles of stuff to keep them busy. Sunday we'll be at my MIL's house for brunch, along with a packed apartment filled with all the cousins.
I'd mentioned last week that April is Autism Awareness Month - Oprah had a show on "The Faces of Autism" yesterday. While I'm happy to see Oprah addressing autism, the content was really a re-hash of the show The View did a few months ago.
And since we all know that scrapbooking is close to my heart (no pun intended), I was happy to find a couple of stamp companies that have put together stamp sets with proceeds benefiting Autism Speaks.

Have a great holiday weekend everyone!

Hello, Michele sent me...
I'm of the firm belief that corsets are only acceptable attire at RenFaires.
The concert sounds interesting.

I wish they would spend more time finding out why autism has skyrocketing and the link to vaccines...indpendent studies, not done by the pharmecuetical companies.
You are so right about the voting. I will still vote but I know the last two elections were stolen. I think they can only steal them when the margin of difference is small.
