About that arc...

If you bid on my arc, I'm sorry to inform you that its off the market. Turns out that I still need it.

The basement flooded again last night.

DH was able to find a pump and a new Shopvac, and he spent most of the day in the basement. We need to get to the heart of why this is a new trend...or perhaps, we were always taking on water like this, and never really noticed (I have a "crawl space" basement barely 4 ft high, so we don't go down there much).

Why was DH home on a Friday, you may ask? Because the transmission went on his truck last night. He was driving to a mason's meeting when...BANG! He came back home and the truck was making ungodly noises. He tried to pull it into a parking spot and found he had no Reverse, and when he tried to put it in Park, the truck kept rolling. We were unable to find a place that would tow him last night, so he parked his car right behind mine so that my tiny Toyota could keep his Tahoe from rolling down the street. This morning we were able to get roadside assist from our insurance to tow the truck to a dealership in NJ. Its going to take a week to get the car back - easy. We're hoping a new transmission isn't required - but in case it is...if you've got an extra $4 or $5 grand laying around doing nothing, I'm accepting donations. :)

In the "good news" department - the girls' CPSE meeting turned out better than expected. Both girls got placed in the school I wanted, and will receive ABA therapy in the classroom. They'll also receive speech, OT, PT and counseling in school (the counseling part is really about learning 'life skills' like sharing, taking turns, etc). All in all, a great success. I was so relieved when the meeting was over I thought my legs were going to go out from under me. So glad to have that over with!

And finally, I leave you with a pleasant surprise I stumbled on this week - Tori Amos has a new album coming out! Yes, she's a little ...um...kooky...but I love love love her. I've already put DH on alert - I'm dragging his ass to see her when she hits the states. He's accepting declarations of sympathy.

Have a great weekend!

Tori is one of my favorites, too! Ever since we saw her in concert at The Tupperware Center, Kissimmee, Florida. One of the best and most intimate concerts we've ever seen. Glad to hear about her new CD! I didn't know about it! :)

Hi, I'm here via Michele. I hope you get the truck back sooner, rather than later.
What a relief that must be about your daughters getting the proper care.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that the final repair isn't that serious.

Every time I hear about things like this, I remind my wife why our next car needs to have a manual. I miss my stick.

Oh, and if your husband won't go to see Tori Amos, I sure will. She's been one of my faves for more years than I can count. She's such an incredible, inspirational talent.

Thanks for reminding me...I need to load her onto my iPod before I fly to China.
