The week from hell.

Wowie.

Let's start with the fun stuff, and ease gently into the not-so-fun stuff...like slipping into a hot bath.

My daughters are getting too damn fresh for me. Yes, that is good stuff. While I realize that the "terrible twos" are upon me, there are times when they pull crap that makes me smile in spite of myself. We've already had a few tantrums and I've had to do a few time outs...but for the most part, my girls are pretty good - so far. Their new thing is throwing shit. Miss S. has one hell of an arm; if it keeps up I may put her in a softball league.

I have a pressure gate at the entrance to my kitchen, which is right off our living room (aka the girls' playroom). From time to time, I need to sneak in there to wash dishes, prepare dinner..you know, the usual. Miss S. has been pretty needy lately (I'm getting to that, don't worry) so her internal mommy sensor always knows when I've left the room. That's when the pitching starts. I'll be at the sink, scrubbing a pot, and all a sudden - whoosh - one of her bouncy balls sails into the kitchen. Then she'll throw in a book, a puppet...items get progressively larger the longer I ignore her. When the big "Potato head Elmo" sails into the kitchen, I know its time to give her some attention. Speaking of, can I share that I HATE this Elmo toy she has. It's this Elmo ...but its like Mr. Potato Head...so there are different noses, ears etc. that you can put on him. I LOATHE this fucking toy, and its Miss S.' favorite. When I see her reach into the toy bin and pull it out, I'm always like, "Oh for the love of GOD, not ELMO!!" And the Elmo toy itself is hard molded plastic, so if I ignore her, she throws it. And it hurts when it hits me. Little witch.

DH has finally seen the light and agreed to fix up our yard. We have a huge backyard that has gone largely unused for the last four years we've been here. His decision was mostly prompted by the fact that the girls are going to be getting so much therapy that we won't have any time to go anywhere in the summer. So he's bankrolling some serious landscaping, he's agreed to fix our above-ground pool (which has been in need of a liner since we moved in) and even buy a swing set for the girls. I know enough to capitalize on this whim before he changes his mind, so I called a landscaper, and we got new sod put in. I am looking forward to walking barefoot on my lush, green lawn, playing with my daughters, and taking a dip in my swimming pool for the first time EVER this summer! YAY me.

This was the week from hell because the nasty stomach virus that's been going around really hit us hard. When we last left you, Dr. D was just starting to get over the virus, and Miss S. was just starting. Here we are, one week later, and she's just now starting to get back to normal. From the nasty poop to the puke - two days ago, I changed her clothes THREE times due to explosive poop and vomit. That was the same night she puked all over the kitchen, and I had to carry her upstairs to change her clothes...then of course, I stank like puke and had to shower. Yesterday, her temp was too low - 95.5. I was beside myself. I pumped her with juice and pedialyte all day. By lunchtime her temp was back to normal, but she was laying around all over the place - I found her sleeping on the floor a couple of times. I had premonitions of trips back to the hospital, IV's and sleeping on the hospital room floor. But I brought her back from the brink. By the time she got up from her nap, she was a bit more herself. Today she was almost 100% - except for the clingy-obnoxious-mommy-don't-even-leave-the-room-to-pee thing.

All in all though, I'm glad we're getting back to "normal".

Gotta jet, I have a scrapbook home party on Sunday and need to prepare. Here's this week's Friday Fiver:

1. When is the last time you became unraveled? - Um...Let's see...what time is it now?
2. What's the longest trip you've taken? - As in miles? I traveled to the UK at the tender age of 20. Now that's a story.
3. Who is the biggest distraction in your life? - LOL. Myself.
4. Do people notice you when you walk into a room? - That depends. Am I PMS'ing that day? If so, you can bet your sweet patootie you will.
5. Describe the last time you disappointed someone: Hmmm. DH was pretty disappointed with me this week. I try to be "supermom" and "superwife"...but I don't always hit the mark. That's life I suppose.

Oh...my life all over again...only with a boy (2) and a girl (5), and the viruses, and the....well, you're living my life, and I'm glad I'm not the only one!

We have several of those "OH NO, that THAT toy" toys around here...mostly noisy ones. With a boy, there are planes, trains, cars, and more...all making lots of noise.

I have taken to plugging in my MP3 player, turning it up LOUD and heading to the kitchen. I can still sort of hear the ruckus, but I'm in heaven for a few minutes (well, as much heaven as can be had while cleaning dishes, lol)

Michele sent me, but I'm doing some exploring today and will read your blog from the beginning!

It sounds like the week from Poop & Vomit Hell! Glad to hear that THAT part seems to be overwith, at least in the little ones!

Here from Michele tonight! It sounds like your summer will be quite lovely with the pool and the lush lawn!

You are bringing back memories from when my kids were small. Hope the virus leaves you soon; I've had it for 2 weeks and it isn't any fun at all. My temp went from 95 up to 102.

Michele sent me. I know you will enjoy all the new landscaping, pool, etc.
