Let me check my schedule...
...Actually, I don't have to. If you need me for anything, have your gal call my gal and we'll set something up for JUNE.
That's right, dear reader - you heard me. All of my weekends from now until JUNE are booked. I realize that this is a very busy time in general - birthdays, graduations, Mother's Day, Memorial Day weekend...I get it. But jeez-louise! I'd like a little "me" time, know what I mean? I won't bore you with my social calendar now, since mostly all I do these days is bitch about my weekends. Instead let me bitch about THIS weekend.
First off, the weather is going to SUCK ass. Its been so nice all week, and now we're expecting serious rain and damp the entire weekend. I'd made plans to get the girls out of the house, but now those plans are shot. Nothing left to do but sit our asses in the house all day and await DH's return. He's bringing home one of my nieces (she's 5) and our youngest nephew, who is a few months older than my girls. I am NOT looking forward to this. First off, my niece is a complete attention hog; she requires ALL of DH's attention, and it annoys the piss out of me - my girls don't spend much time with their dad to begin with, he should be spending time with them on the weekends. This will also be my little nephew's first trip to my house, and I'm hoping he doesn't freak out as 2 year olds tend to do. My daughters don't really show a desire to play with him; I'm sensing that I'll be spending lots of time breaking up fights over toys and such. I think he has a crush on Miss Princess S.; he follows her around like a puppy - and my girl just isn't giving him any play. Love that. Big ups to my girl who already knows how to play hard to get - it took me 25 years to get that act down.
Speaking of weekends, last weekend was an adventure. Easter Sunday found us trekking back and forth between the respective grandparents. We were at my MILs in the early afternoon, and the girls were running around with all of their cousins. On the trip back home, Dr. D. caught some ZZZs...but Miss Princess S. stayed wide awake; not a good sign. By the time she got to my mom's her eyes were hanging out of her head. She began to wail as soon as we brought her in the house. After about an hour of non-stop crying, DH said, "can I please take her home now?" DH and Miss Princess went home, and Dr. D. spent the remainder of the day enjoying the spotlight -- something that (unfortunately) doesn't happen too often to her since her sister is a bit of a drama queen.
Subject change: I just bought myself a little present with some cash I came into recently - check this out:

Isn't it the cutest little thing? Its the Creative Labs Zen Micro MP3 player. Six gigs of listening pleasure. I bought it mostly to listen to tunes in the car - I've gotten tired of burning CD's. I went with Creative because...well, the price was right...and second - I LOATHE Apple and would sooner stick needles in my eyes than buy an iPod.
**sidenote** - If you're an Apple person, please don't leave me nasty comments. I've tried the Apple thing, I'm just a Windows gal; its a personal preference, much like the "Coke or Pepsi" debate. If you love Apple - good luck and godspeed, but I just can't jump on that bandwagon.
Anyway. I'm so loving this little thing. It fits in the palm of your hand; I actually used it today while I food-shopped. It made food shopping tolerable - and there's nothing wrong with that.
I'm sitting here watching QVC while I blog. They've got a Philosophy show on right now. I cannot say enough about the Philosophy line of products. Love love love their stuff. I starting using their stuff when I was pregnant and never looked back. Recently on our "date night" out, DH took me out to the local Sephora for a shopping spree - one of the (many) things I bought was Philosophy's "big mouth" lip primer. This stuff is genius - it has a peptide in it that not only brings the color into your lips, but it makes them look "bee stung". I normally wouldn't purchase something like this but I was recently horrified to find that my lips are thinning!!! ACK! Of course, its only something that's visible to me, but I've noticed it. Getting old sucks ass folks.
I'll leave you to ponder that.
Here's this week's Friday's Feast:
Appetizer
List 3 things you keep putting off. - Trips to the dentist, the doctor, and calling Early Intervention for the girls to find out when their intensive therapy is going to start.
Soup
What do you feel is your greatest responsibility? - Being a good mother, and setting an exceptional example for my kids.
Salad
If you could have starred in any movie, which one would you have wanted to be in and why? - "Kill Bill" - because 'The Bride' totally, unapologetically kicks ass without fear or regret.
Main Course
What is an expectation you had as a child about being an adult and, now that you are grown up, you realize you were wrong? - As a child, I couldn't wait to grow up. I couldn't wait to go to work. I thought it would be so glamourous to work for a living, and that life would be one long cocktail party. Hoo boy, was I off the mark on that one.
Dessert
When was the last time you had your car serviced? - Several months ago for an oil change.

Rainy weekends and getting older do suck some serious monkey ass! Sorry to hear about your lack of alone time...everyone needs it. I like your MP3 player, fun. I have never had an IPOD, but have thought about the Nano. You think they are that bad? Here from Michele's...

I have both types of computers.
Apple gives me less problem.
I'm amazed, another person who admits to watching QVC. You know you've had it on at home too much when you're out of town and your seven year old daughter tells the neighbors she's spending a couple of days with that she likes to watch the Weather Channel and QVC. I think they about passed out.
Here from Michele.

Congrats on the new Zen. I hear you re. the whole Apple thing. Whenever any one company becomes as cultish as Apple, you've got to wonder what they've been putting in the Kool Aid.
In the interest of disclosure, I am currently listening to music on an iPod. But I didn't willingly buy it: my company bought 'em for all employees last Christmas.
If I'd been buying my own, I would have looked at the Creative ones. I bought my wife an iRiver last year, and she loves it. So much less fussy than my freakin' slab of white.rl

Hey Christine, Michele sent me.
I love the way iPods look but like you, I don't want to buy into the whole Apple thing. I've not bought a MP3 player as a result. :-(
I understand your weekend complaints, Christine. My girlfriend's 24 year old son just recently moved back in with her and between entertaining him, and the rain this weekend--things just sucked. LOL The 3 of us--and one of the dogs--went hiking on Saturday and just got DRENCHED. It came down in buckets. *sigh*
