Friday's Rant: Stressed out and sleep deprived.
Well, as predicted, I'm pissed off at the world at not having finished my three Father's Day scrapbooks. I have made good progress though - my dad's is done, and my uncle's is almost done. I should be able to get DH's done. But I've been up till 3am the last two nights. The first night was my fault. Last night was DH's fault. He didn't have to be in work until late today, so he used that as an excuse to stay up late with his beer (not that he ever needs an excuse), and refused to leave the kitchen table (my main work area). Truth is, I think he's a little jealous of my hobby. I think he's jealous that he doesn't have the time to sit around and play his guitars or work on any of his other hobbies. My answer to this has always been, "well, honey, if you stayed up till 2am every night you'd have time too!" My husband has become a Scrapbooking Widower. I try to see it from his point of view, but I feel like I've found a hobby that I love doing, it relaxes me, its a creative outlet, he's not being neglected in any way, so STOP breaking my chops! I constantly get sarcastic remarks from him like, "You should try to go to bed early tonite, no later than 4am!" The thing that husbands don't always get is that they work a full day, and can go to sleep at the end of the day, content that they've put in a full day. When you're home with your kids, in some ways your day STARTS after the kids go to bed. I can get most of the basic housework done during the day...but nights are MY time to do things for me. Yes, mostly scrapbooking. Don't change the subject.
Baby D. keeps getting herself into trouble. Yesterday she pulled the safety gate down on top of herself. Did she cry? Hell no. She was PISSED. And Miss S. is starting to crawl a bit more now, she's got that gimpy-crawl, dragging one leg behind her. And she keeps trying to stand straight up. They're fighting more over toys. I constantly find myself taking things away when they fight over them. I'd always pegged Baby D. as the ass-kicker, but her sister just bullies the hell out of her. S. takes toys away from D., and D. just sits there and cries. In fact, I'm starting to see some pretty unsavory behaviour in S. There are times she'll look me in the face, and pull her sister's hair. Could she be testing me this early? Trying to feel me out, seeing what I'll do? God help me.
DH is going to be home early today - and gone much of tomorrow. It's time for the niece's annual dance recital. Even the blind aunt is going - go figure. You're blind, you're 350lbs. Why would you want to go sit in a dark auditorium, squeezing yourself into those uncomfortable auditorium chairs to LISTEN to dancing for like four hours? I just don't understand some folks.
Sunday I'll be going to visit my dad, following a visit from the MIL and the aunt. How is it that she managed to get herself in for both Mother's Day and Father's Day??
Here's the Friday Fiver - hope all the dads out there have a great Father's Day!
R-E-L-I-E-F
1. RE: your future. What lies ahead? - Raising my kids, perhaps going back to work part time
2. Listen: what can you hear? "Sesame Street"
3. Inner peace: Do you have it? Sometimes. Depends on the time of day, depends on how many pills I took that day. : )
4. Every once in a while, someone surprises you. Who did most recently? My daughters constantly surprise me.
5. Friends can come and go. Who has come into your life, and who has left? I guess I could say Jenn has come into my life - she's another mom of twins - her girls are about two months old now. Watching her go through the experience gives me flashbacks! And who's left? No one really. I don't have many friends, so the ones I pick have stayed around for a while. Like 20 years or so...

I love it when you pre-text the fiver with stories of real life. My husband is constantly ragging on my bloggage.
last I checked I don't sit at a computer all day... I chase his (our) fiesty daughter all around this house cause she thinks it's FUNNY to crawl away from mama.
oh well. say something snarky to the MIL... like "so you're celebrating father's day now because of your mustache???"
I digress.
answers to the fiver:
1. RE: your future. What lies ahead? - diapers, chasing, and feeding. I figure either way... by the time I'm done having kids and they're all out of diapers, *I'll* be needing them.
2. Listen: what can you hear? another unfinished house being worked on in my neighborhood.
3. Inner peace: right now I'm ok, cause I just finished the slim-fast. give me another 5 minutes and I'll be hungry and bitchy again.
4. Every once in a while, someone surprises you. Who did most recently? my husband. he cleaned up after dinner.
5. Friends can come and go. Who has come into your life, and who has left? welcome to the black hole, my friend... once you're in... there's no getting out.

I wish I wasn't so ADD and could scrapbook. I get too antsy. I love looking at nice scrap books though. You should scan some pages so we can see them!
1. RE: your future. What lies ahead? Diapers. Temper tantrum management. A house with a real yard.
2. Listen: what can you hear? My 2 pugs snoring at my feet.
3. Inner peace: Like I said before - I'm antsy. Takes a strong drink or complete exhustion to slow me down. But I'm a HAPPY control freak :)
4. Every once in a while, someone surprises you. Who did most recently? my friend Jeff decided to spend Friday with me and Liam.
5. Friends can come and go. Who has come into your life, and who has left? The most recent friends are two women I met through a Gymboree baby class. They totally GET it (first time neurotic stay at home moms). Most recent to leave - hm. I haven't lost any lately. Some no-baby friends have become a bit more distant though.
Liam also RAGES at gates. HATES them. How DARE they block his path. Ugh. Constant re-directing required.
Hope your weekend is GREAT!

Here today via Ms. Michele.
Being a guy I am NOT a scrapbooker. But I once knew a guy who was a bookmaker.

I make candles and soaps, which is good when hubby is on the road. It keeps me (mostly) out of trouble.
He can get snarky about my blogging, but that's usually because he wants to talk. Ahhh, well...
