Almost There!

The holidays are almost over!! My life is almost back to normal!

Let's see...we got through Christmas pretty well. My BIL sliced the tip of his finger off (not watching while cutting is never a good thing). The girls got SO much stuff - I'm up to my ears in Play-dough, and the relatives pretty much stuck to the list I provided. And the CLOTHES!! My daughters are two very well dressed little girls, they got such CUTE stuff. It took me three hours on Xmas eve after the girls went to sleep to sort the new clothes and the new toys (some of the clothes are too big for them now, and we'll have to stick them...somewhere...I'll have to find a home for them...the same goes for the toys)

And I must have been a VERY GOOD GIRL this year, because I also got this from Santa:

God help me, I love their 80's station.

We've all made it through our recent illness. I'm still nebulizing the girls. The steroids in the meds are making Dr. D. completely bounce off the walls, and its affecting Miss Princess' behavior. In the past week, she and I have gone at it quite a few times. She's been in time out a few times too. My daughter is all juiced up and testing her limits. And mine as well.

We'll all be spending New Year's Eve with my mother-in-law - and that's all I'm going to say about that. Oh, and this -- for the second year in a row, I'll be ringing in the New Year on an air mattress. Happy Feckin' New Year to me.

Rusty went back to the vet tonight. He collapsed on the floor and would not get up. The vet told DH that his heart and his will to live are very strong. If you ask me, the vet's need to squeeze another shilling out of us is what's strong. DH and I have come to a moral crossroads on this issue. I think he should put the old boy down, and put him out of his misery. DH feels that we should only put him down if he's in extreme pain or if he's completely incapacitated -- DH refuses to "play God". But I feel that as a pet owner, part of your responsibility is to decide when enough is enough. Rusty is 18 years old - he's lived a good life. He doesn't deserve this. The poor thing is a scant 6 lbs - at the height of his bulk he was almost 20lbs. Speaking as someone who has had to put her animals to sleep, I know its never an easy decision, but sometimes one that has to be made.

Here's a pic of Rusty in healthier days, and here's hoping that DH comes to terms with letting him go:

Here's the Friday Fiver - Have a great holiday everyone! Feel free to adopt my personal ritual for New Year's: At the stroke of midnight, fill a cup with water and toss it out the window - it represents all the tears you've shed over the past year. That way, you start the year with a clean slate, and (hopefully) fewer tears. Got that one from Charlotte, rest her soul.

This New Year:
1) Big Party or stay at home alone? - See above.
2) Stay up to watch the ball drop? - Of course!
3) Will you make any resolutions? NEVER.
4) Is Dick Clark a good host for New Year's Eve? He's better than Ryan Seacrest anyway.
5) Do you know the words to Auld Lang Syne? Yes!

Sounds like an eventful and emotional time. I get the feeling you're well equipped to deal with both, however...

Thank you for visiting my blog!
    I understand your difficulty with finding places for your kid's new stuff, it has always been a problem for me too. I recommend those plastic tubs they sell at Wal-mart & Target to store too-big clothes in, with a sachet or something to prevent them from getting musty, they store at the back of the closet quite nicely & I also find they are good for later holding the opposite season's clothes ;^}
Happy New Year to you too!

I was going to say awsome score with the sat radio - but then I got to the part about Rusty - poor fella'.

I'm not even going to touch the bit about the MIL - oops - I've said too much already.

Anyhoo - your post was fun to read, thanks for that.

    Michele sent me today.
