Diary of a Mad SAHM

Don't ask me - I just vent here.

Good news. And bad news.

First. The good news. DH gave me my Christmas present early:

That noise you're hearing is me running around the house whooping and hollering. How fricken cool!!
He gave it to me early so that I have time to LEARN how to use it before Christmas - maybe my good blogfriend Carmi will provide tutorials.

Carmi - I have very little money. I can make you some cool scrapbook pages...I also make really great coconut macaroons (or so I'm told). How 'bout it?

In other news, the Christmas tree is up. That's it. Just up. I'm about to start testing lights. Crappy crap.

The girls are not feeling well. First Miss Princess S., and two days later, Dr. D. She woke up today with the tell-tale toddler 'yick' around her nose. And as some of you may know, a toddler would sooner you poke their eyes out than wipe their noses. Dr. D. has a slight fever and is definitely NOT herself. You could set an alarm clock by my kids: we visited my BIL and his germ factories (aka his three kids) on Saturday, and the girls were sick by mid-week. Using this math, we'll be at my BIL's on Christmas day, so that means the girls should get sick just in time for New Year's Eve. Awesome.

Speaking of last Saturday at my BiL's, the girls did wonderfully well. Not a single meltdown. The girls played with the other kids, and barely got into trouble. We won't talk about how Miss Princess S. decided to go float some toys in the toilet - no, we won't. Even my anti-social SIL commented on how much more social the girls are - that was so gratifying. It really was a testament to the girls' therapy - it may be a weekly grind, but its really paying off.

Lastly, I was watching the "Rachel Ray" show this week. Don't say a word. There was nothing else on. Anyway. She received a certificate from the Oxford American College Dictionary because they've decided to include the abbreviation "EVOO" (that's short for "extra virgin olive oil" for the uninitiated). I swear on all that's holy, Tony Bourdain is out there somewhere, banging his head against the wall.

That's it kids, I'm out. Here's the Friday Feast:

Appetizer
Which language would you like to learn and why? - Italian - I hope to go back to the "old country" one day!

Soup
What's the funniest thing you've heard or read so far this week? - See the Rachel Ray story above.

Salad
Which movie was so bad you couldn't watch the whole thing? - "Date Movie"

Main Course
If there were a holiday in your honor that didn't use your actual name, what would the day be called? - "National Scrapbooking Day!"

Dessert
Name one movie which is coming out soon that you would like to see. - I hate to admit this, but "Dreamgirls"...oh, and "Curse of the Golden Flower" - I love those martial arts movies.

Great camera. Will you wrap it back up so that you can unwrap it again on Christmas morning?

    Here from Michele.
Mom got a tree with the lights already on it. Thank goodness this year they seem to be working. I see one that isn't but when I went to find it again, I couldn't. I was having nightmares about one strand being out and having it ruin the whole tree. Christmas lights and I don't always get along.
Hope the kids get feeling better.

You have absolutely made my night, Christine. I know you can't see it, but I'm smiling from ear to ear.

Tutorials are an easy thing, and I'd be honored to help you in any way I can.

I typically use Google Talk (carmilevy AT gmail DOT com) to speak with friends near and far. I'd be happy to chat and share my thoughts on integrating a new camera. Let me know if that works for you.

    Catherine's welcome to join, too!

Now that's a pretty camera. I have a Kodak EasyShare that has 10X Zoom and it's my baby.

Back again: I can't wait to see your first pictures from your new camera.

When I brought my new toy home a couple of months back, I agonized over what to shoot first, and have spent much of the time since learning the subtleties of shooting with this strange new machine.

In time, it'll become second nature to you. Just give yourself lots and lots of time to get used to it. And be sure to take it everywhere you go so that you get ample opportunities to practise.
