Summer's half over??
Wow. That was fast.
The 4th of July was hectic. Our BBQ went off without a hitch, and then we were at my aunt's house the following day. But you know what I miss? Being able to really relax at events like that. The weather was nice, I was reclining in a chaise, and I very easily could have drifted right off to sleep: If only it weren't about having to make sure Princess S. didn't run straight into the BBQ grill. During my own BBQ, I managed to jump in the pool for a quick dip; I was floating along on my raft, the sun was warm...and then I heard the babies waking up from their naps. That's the thing about parenthood - it never takes a vacation.
Speaking of parenthood - do all parents have selective memories? I had to discipline Miss Princess S. while at my aunt's house (she got a slap on the wrist, calm down). My mom started to give me shit about giving her a slap. I said to her, "what are you squawking about? You used to hit me with a wooden spoon" (its true, she did. Just a swat every once in a while when I was being really bitchy. Kind of like how Eddie Murphy's mom used to hit him with a shoe.) My mom looked me in the face and said, "I never did any such thing". She's delusional! My MIL used to beat DH with a wiffle ball bat. Maybe I should try that when he gets out of line.
Dr. D has added a few words to her vocabulary- "fishies", "turtle" and I'd swear she said "thank you". Nothing yet from Miss Princess S. The girls' one year EI evaluation is coming up in a couple of weeks. The dog and pony show. Drag my kids to the EI office so that they can be evaluated. I hate it.
This Sunday is my birthday. I am...no longer 35 as stated in my profile. I am...not happy about it. DH is taking me out tomorrow night - the girls are sleeping at the MIL's. I plan on drinking many cocktails and reflecting on my 35+ years. Feel free to send birthday wishes, or condolences.
Here's this week's Friday Fiver:
1. Have you ever had an addiction? - Oh yea...you name it. Chocolate....love...certain men...I'm pre-disposed to addiction
2. Are you afraid of the dark? - Sometimes, if I'm in unfamiliar surroundings. When I used to travel for business, I'd sleep with the TV or the bathroom light on.
3. What's your favorite flavor of ice cream? Haagen Dazs Creme Brulee
4. Have you ever been to the circus? Yes. I live there.
5. What do you think of North Korea testing nuclear weapons? It makes me decidedly uneasy.

Well, happy birthday anyway - even if you're not happy about it. Maybe you could develop a selective number disability - one that only applies to remembering your age :)
Michele sent me.
