Therapy IS a good thing!

Yup. The birthday party was a success. The girls had a great time.
This has been a hectic week. Too much to do, and not enough time to do it. Amazingly enough, the girls' intensive ABA therapy has been working out well...for all of us. The girls get three hours of therapy - which has been helping them quite a bit (more on that in a bit), and since we get two therapists (one for each girl) I get three hours of uninterrupted time to do all kinds of stuff I never seem to have time for (because my daughters are constantly on the move and constantly getting in trouble!). This week I mowed the lawn, I changed over the girls' clothes from winter to summer, I cleaned the bathroom...sounds completely boring to you I know, but these are the sorts of things that sit on my "to do" list FOREVER and it stresses me out. I also get to cook dinner uninterrupted while the girls are in therapy: most days I struggle to get dinner cooked either while the girls are occupied watching "Jack's Big Music Show" or I fight to get dinner done while Princess S. throws toys over the security gate to get my attention.
This week in therapy the girls sat at their little table for 45 minutes straight. This is a big deal. They played with Play-doh, they colored, they actually played TOGETHER. Oh, and Dr. D. said "mommy". That's a biggie.
Memorial Day weekend is going to be sort of "blah" for us. DH is going to be working most of the weekend. The girls and I are going to my parent's house for a barbeque tomorrow. Looking forward to relaxing a little bit. The best thing about bringing the girls around my family is that there's lots of other folks willing to take my kids off my hands so that I can eat my burger in peace.
Hope everyone enjoys the long weekend!
Here's this week's Friday Fiver
1. Where did you grow up? - Same city I live in today
2. Have you ever been to Indiana? - Yep. One of my ex-bf's went to school at Purdue in West Lafayette.
3. Describe yourself at age 18: - hoo boy. Self absorbed, melodramatic, selfish, nerdy...I was quite the prize back then.
4. How do you deal with pain? I tend to squash it. Then I wind up crying my eyes out over Hallmark commercials. How's that for healthy??
5. When is the last time you screwed up? Earlier this week. Don't ask.

You go ahead and enjoy those three hours to get stuff done!!! God knows I do a little happy dance when my boys are gone. That is when I can actually clean my house, uninterupted!

Indiana is fairly bleak, wouldn't you say? Glad you're getting the time you need.

Hi from Michele's!
Two years old... sigh! I so miss that age. I loved two year's old.. how much fun would it be times two?!?
I understand about how good it feels to get the girl's clothes switched out. I did that a couple of weeks ago and that makes it feel as though the seasons really have changed.
You know what's really interesting? While the kids need new clothes each winter, you'll find that some of their outfits can go through even three summers! I think it's because it's hard for shorts to look "high water" until they're short shorts....
Have a great evening and a relaxing weekend.
