Did the girls have a secret meeting and plan this?

I finally, FINALLY decided to go out tonite with the local mom's club. They were having a 'mom's night out'. DH was great, helped me bathe the girls and get them to bed a little earlier than usual so that I could get out the door.

I left around 7:45pm.The girls usually sleep through the night without a peep. I'm at TGI Fridays having Frozen Cosmos (which were, by the way, a little slice of heaven), and then we all went to see "The 40 Year Old Virgin". I stopped at the drive thru on the way home and walked in the door at 11:30 ready to have a snack and pop into bed.

I walk in the door and see D in her swing and DH on the couch, scowling. I'd turned my phone down in the theatre so I didn't know DH was calling me. Apparently, Devin woke up around 10pm screaming. He took her out of the room so as not to wake S, then whenever he tried to put her back to bed, she screamed bloody murder. She seemed otherwise fine. She smiled when she saw me and was playing with my jewelry...DH basically said, "I need to get up at 5am, you're on your own".

I decided to re-do our normal nighttime routine. I made her a small bottle, warmed the milk, brought her upstairs and then brought her to bed after she finished the bottle. She went out like a light. Every single night, I'm here - awake - until like 1am. The ONE NIGHT I go out, the baby has a bad dream and won't go back to bed! And fuckitall for trying to make me feel guilty about going out! The mom's club is having a game night next week, and you bet yer sweet patootie I'm going.

I even managed to get a mani/pedi yesterday - can you believe it? Tomorrow is the "surprise" 60th birthday party for my MIL. Looking forward to this like root canal. But at least I'll be able to sneak out early -- I'll keep the girls there till about 9pm; I can't see them hanging in there much later than that -- its past their bedtime.

Allow me to switch gears for a moment - came across this blurb in a local newspaper -- I'd be interested to hear your thoughts:

Profiteering ghouls have been using debit cards distributed in the wake of Hurricane Katrina - intended to buy essentials for evacuated families - in luxury-goods stores as far away as Atlanta. "We've seen three of the cards," said a senior employee of the Louis Vuitton store at the Lenox Square Mall in affluent Buckhead, who asked not to be named. "Two I'm certain have purchased; one actually asked if she could use it in the store. This has been since Saturday."
The distinctive white cards were distributed by the Red Cross and the Federal Emergency Management Agency and carry a value of up to $2,000. "It doesn't say anything on the card other than alcohol, tobacco and firearms cannot be purchased with it," the store employee told me. "There's nothing legally that prevents us from taking it, unfortunately. Other than morally, it's wrong."
The source told me that the two women who had made purchases with the card each bought a signature monogrammed Louis Vuitton handbag in the $800 range.
"They didn't look destitute by any stretch. You would never have said, 'They must be one of the evacuees.' ... The one that I dealt with yesterday was 20. She'll be 21 next month." The source described the reaction of other store-keepers in the mall - which includes luxury brands Ferragamo, Burberry, Judith Leiber and Neiman Marcus - as "outrage." "It doesn't say anywhere on there, but it would have to be a good amount to be shopping in here," the source said with a dark chuckle.

They do that so that their daddy appreciates what you do everyday. :)

I also heard that the FEMA cards were being used in strip clubs. It is just sad.

I was wondering if the FEMA cards had restrictions....I can only hope Karma comes back and bites them on their butts.

    Hi! Michele sent me.

You just GO girl with your moms' group. Honestly, it is GOOD for your hubs to be in that position now and then. I joined a moms club when my son was 8 months old and continue to make sure I get out at least once or twice a month for my own sanity. I also occasionally take a road trip on a weekend (maybe once or twice a year) too. Just remember, your husband is your partner in parenting...he can deal with the crying babies now and then too!

The FEMA card thing makes me sick...

It always feels so good to get away from the kids only to find out that it didn't go so smoothly at home. Oh well, you need to get out and our husbands just have to deal.
The FEMA thing is sickening. Just wrong that some people take advantage of the system set to help people.
