Picture This

I finally summoned up all my courage and took the girls to Picture People in the mall for their Fall '04 pics. I've been feeling guilty about not doing it sooner, but taking my girls anywhere requires the precision of a military maneuver, and I just couldn't do it.

I bribed my mother into coming, and (thank god) aunt linda & uncle tom came to watch. It would've been a disaster otherwise. I tried to cover all the bases -- made sure they were fed, changed, napped...we got to PP and it was a mob scene. We had to wait a good 20 minutes before they took us...and those were 20 critical minutes. Had they taken us right away, we would've been golden. As it was, the girls began to melt down. Too many people yelling at them to smile, too much input to take in...before I knew it, I had to give them bottles, Baby D pooped and had to be changed (such a little baby, such toxic shit). They moved us to another room while they took pics of another family. NIGHTMARE. By the time I got out of there, I had the shakes, and made a beeline for Wendys before I passed out.

Has anyone noticed that NO ONE makes a path for you when you're walking with a stroller? Danielle has to be able to identify w/this since she's driving the same Mack Truck Duoglider that I have...I mean people are in a fucking fog, and they practically walk into your kids!!! Amazing. So one Wendy's chicken strips, one cinnabon, and one latte later, I go back to PP to see the proofs. Not bad, but not great. I was happy to have them done though. I didn't want to wait for next week when everyone will be trying to get Halloween pics done. The girls passed out on the way home - wish I could have.

Speaking of Halloween!!! OMG. DH tells me that he's working Friday nite, all of Sat, and then my MIL and the aunt are coming over. Mind you, I've had plans with my mom for months to take the girls trick or treating. I'm getting a little tired of managing my MILs emotions. So I made the executive decision. I told DH the girls will spend 3hrs w/MIL, then I'll change them into their costumes, she can take pics, then I'm heading to my mom's for the rest of the day. If ya don't like it, lump it. Did I mention that Baby D is going to be a ladybug and Baby S is going to be a bumblebee??? SHUT UP.

And as we head down the slippery slope toward the end of 2004, let me also add that my MIL and the aunt are going to spend Thanksgiving w/my family, so that everyone gets to see the girls. In years past, Ron and I split up (don't go there), but now....*sigh*

Christmas is going to get sticky too, with everyone clammoring to see the babies. UGH.

One final note then I'll shut up. I found the song LisaLisa was looking for "1985" by Bowling for Soup. I even printed out the lyrics - overachiever that I am. I've got a bunch of 80's songs that I'll burn to CD (big surprise there huh?) for the CC meeting. Speaking of 80's songs, DH recently purchased XM Satellite radio -- it is SO cool. They have an 80's station and I am in my glory.
